Another new start

On Wednesday I had my hair recoloured and trimmed ready for new job. For a change Paco decided to use heated rollers - I don't think I've used heated rollers since the 80's when everybody wanted BIG hair. Effect was very different, Paco called it Hollywood, whatever it looked more night out than mentoring evening at school which was event I attended. Mentoring evening have replaced parents' evening, now you only see tutor group teacher (who may or may not actually teach your child) and the child is present listening to all comments and being encouraged to take responsibility for improving their grades. Personally not impressed with system and feel emphasis is too much on child. Plus parents do not meet subject teacher so can not verify comments with them.

I bumped into my ex-colleagues from NR in arcade. They seemed pleased to see me. It seems that the full-time CSA also left just after me. Chatting I discovered that there has been a high turnaround of CSAs and the company is aware but can't do anything about it. Unfortunately no one is going to change Sue's self-image and she will continue to lay blame on computer, files, wallpaper, or whatever comes to hand rather than look inward to its cause.

Had phonecall from JHP as there is induction training in Gloucester on Monday. I am looking forward to starting and hope that everything goes well. Tried to get new notebook in Waitrose then forgot when I was in town. Was going to rip pages out of old notebook but a new start should be as clean as possible.

Memory and Dreams

I seem to be having trouble remembering things. This is starting to worry me in that my Gran had Altimizers, although she also had a drink problem. My latest episode involes losing my cake server. I brought this for my bottom drawer when I was at Boots and about 18! I thought that I'd lent it to a friend but on asking she denied. I have no reason to disbelieve her, so my brain must be playing some sort of game, and when trying to remember back I can no longer identify reality from dreams.

This is the white orchid I brought for the bathroom last year.

This is the orchid given to me on last day - I think it will last longer than job did.

New beginnings

Today is Declan's 12th birthday. Chris got him a monitor and TV for his bedroom. Then decided he didn't have anything to unwrap. I went out and got a remote control BMW, then remembered he wanted a dressing gown so I found an England one. I think he was chuffed. Today we went to Cafe Rouge where we had a lovely meal but were all too full for dessert.

Have received paperwork for new job, hours are slightly less than expected but so is pay. There is no pension either. But weighing things up I have decided to go for it. Job seems rewarding and hours do fit in with boys. However, I have been trying to think of a way to increase income and have come up with tiara making. Reasons are I believe there is a demand and nowhere in Cheltenham now sells them, I have a fascination for them. Drawback is I have no experience of making so I need to find out if I can master craft and create the designs in my head into objects people will want to wear and buy!
